I’ve had my eye on this game for a while. Play as an old man who embarks on an epic journey after he receives a letter. Journey along with him as you rediscover his past. Our elders often have many buried secrets and regrets. I’m excited to laugh, cry, and reminisce with this digital grandpa.

Old Man’s Journey is usually $8, but you can have it for $2 as a treat. For a steal like that, I know I’ll definitely be uncovering the past and crying along with the old man sometime in the near future.

Teacup

A little frog needs help preparing ingredients for her tea party. Along the way she will meet a unique cast of characters in her whimsical world. This game features a diverse selection of mini-games and the story looks like an adorable experience from start to finish!

Gris

Gris is a masterfully illustrated platformer that gently brings its protagonist through the stages of grief. The watercolor art style and emotional story give the game an ethereal air. A beautiful, serene soundtrack adds ushers you along the journey of a young girl’s emotional growth. I’ve written about it before in an article about emotional indie games. Its moving atmosphere is definitely worth playing through at least once.

Gris is a whopping 80% off, putting it at just $3. If you enjoy platformers, beautiful games, or just games that tell an emotional story Gris is worth scooping up during this Wholesome Games Celebration!

Chicken Journey

What came first: the chicken or the egg? Embark on an epic quest to discover the answer to the most important question a young chicken could ask. Solve puzzles, take sand baths, and meet curious characters like the chicken version of Bob Ross in this cozy game about the pursuit of knowledge. Key Feature: you are a chicken.

You can embark on a wondrous Chicken Journey for only $5 on Steam. At a 50% markdown, I know I’m going to swipe this game up as soon as possible! (I’ve always wanted to be a adventuring chicken).

Looped

Looped is a short and sweet interactive fiction game where you help the two characters, Him and Her, complete tasks and find their way out of a loop. This is a story about two people who are simply destined for each other. Definitely a wholesome story worth experiencing.

Looped is 20% off on Steam, which means you get to play this game for $4.79. It’s available in 10 different languages and has full controller support. If you enjoy an artsy love story, this game will be right up your alley.

When the Past was Around

This hidden object game tells the story of a woman who needs to let go. It’s a touching story about grief and learning to rediscover yourself. The protagonist explores her memories of a past lover through music and simple, sweet minigames.

While the Iron’s Hot is 25% off on Steam making it $14.99. While this isn’t quite a “$5 game,” I think it’s worth it for an exciting adventure and a new gameplay format.
